What we keep, and why.

Most of nerds.click runs in your browser and keeps nothing. An account, a plan or an editable QR code means we keep a little more. This page says exactly what, in plain words. Last updated 1 November 2026.

The short version

  • The free PDF, image and QR tools work on your device. Your files and QR details are not uploaded. If you are signed in and choose to save a code or design, that code or design is kept in your account.
  • With an account we keep your email address, your saved designs (including their QR details and logos) and, on a plan, your editable QR codes and their scan totals.
  • Scans are counted as daily totals only. We do not record who scanned, their IP address or their exact location.
  • Card details go to Stripe, not to us. Sign-in is handled by Clerk. Emails are sent through Resend.
  • No advertising networks, tracking pixels or analytics scripts.

Who we are

nerds.click is the trading name of the business that runs this website. For anything about your information, email support@nerds.click.

The free tools

The PDF, image and QR code tools run in your browser. Your files, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and other QR contents are processed on your device and are not sent to us, unless you are signed in and save a code or design to your account. Downloads are made on your device too. If you save a device draft in the Print Studio, it is kept in that browser only (see “Drafts on this device” in your account).

A QR code contains the details you put in it. Anyone who scans a printed code can read them, including Wi-Fi passwords. Removing photo metadata does not hide what is visible in the picture.

Your account

Sign-in is provided by Clerk. When you create an account, Clerk processes your email address, your chosen sign-in method (for example a password or a Google account) and sign-in security details, under Clerk’s privacy policy. We keep your email address and an account identifier so your designs and codes belong to you. We never see your password.

Cookies: Clerk sets cookies to keep you signed in, and we set one small cookie that remembers you are signed in so the site can show “Account” instead of “Sign in”. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Saved designs and logos

A design saved to your account includes its text, colours, layout, QR details and any logo or picture you added. It is stored privately on our server and only you can open it. Logos and pictures are kept as private files and served to you through short-lived links. Delete a design from Saved designs at any time.

Editable QR codes and statistics

An editable code opens a short nerds.click link that forwards to the destination you choose. We store the destination addresses you enter, the name you give the code and when it was changed.

When someone scans an editable code, we add one to that code’s daily total. We also count, per day, the approximate country (from the connection, never stored per person, and hidden until a code has at least 10 opens in a period), the type of device (phone, tablet or computer, worked out from the browser’s description, which we do not keep) and the hour of day. We do not store IP addresses, cookies, identifiers or any history of an individual visitor, so we cannot tell you whether the same person scanned twice. Statistics are kept for 12 months and then deleted.

Scans are not counted after your plan has ended, and never for codes that are paused for a safety review.

Safety checks on destinations

Anyone can report a code that leads to a scam or harmful content, without an account. A reported or clearly harmful destination can be paused for review; you are told by email and can ask for a review from your account. Destinations are not sent to any outside checking service.

Payments

Plans and one-off purchases are paid through Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our server; Stripe’s own privacy policy applies. We keep what we need to run your plan: which plan you have, its dates, Stripe’s references for your customer and subscription, and whether a payment failed. Use “Manage billing” in your account to see invoices, change your card or cancel.

Emails

Our emails come from hello@nerds.click. We send the emails needed to run your account: a welcome when a plan starts, notices about payments, cancellation and renewal, and a message if one of your codes is paused for a safety review. If you turn on weekly summaries, you get one email a week with your codes’ totals, with an unsubscribe link in every message. Emails are delivered by Resend; your email address and the message content pass through their service. We do not send marketing email.

Where your information is kept

Your account data is stored on a server we run in the EU, with encrypted backups kept for 14 days. Clerk, Stripe and Resend process information in their own data centres, which may be outside the UK, under their standard contractual safeguards.

How long we keep things

  • Account, designs and codes: while your account exists. Deleted items leave our backups within 14 days.
  • Scan statistics: 12 months.
  • Payment records: as long as the law requires for accounts and tax.
  • Safety reports and review records: kept so that decisions can be checked, without personal details of the reporter beyond what they chose to give.

Your rights

You can see and change most of your information from your account. You can ask us to send you a copy of what we hold, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything in it: email support@nerds.click from the address on your account and we will do it within 30 days. Deleting your account stops your editable codes working. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Accounts are for people aged 16 and over.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and, for anything significant, tell account holders by email first.
